Community Sound Baths in Chicago & Chicagoland

Experience an in-person sound bath with crystal singing bowls and a gong in a welcoming community setting.

Sixth & Twelfth Sound hosts community sound baths throughout Chicago and Chicagoland, including events in the western suburbs. No meditation experience is needed. Come as you are, get comfortable, and give yourself some time to slow down and listen.

What Is a Community Sound Bath?

A community sound bath is a shared listening experience where participants rest comfortably while I play crystal singing bowls and a gong.

Unlike a private sound bath, community sessions are open to the public and give you an affordable way to experience sound alongside other people who are also there to slow down.

You don’t need to know how to meditate or have attended a sound bath before. I’ll explain what to expect before we begin.

Then you simply get comfortable and listen.

What to Expect at a Sound Bath

Most community sound baths last about an hour and include time to settle in, a brief introduction, an immersive sound experience, and a gentle transition back at the end.

During the session, I use a seven-bowl set of crystal singing bowls and a gong to create changing layers of sound and vibration.

Depending on the venue, you may lie on a yoga mat, sit comfortably in a chair, or choose another position that works for you.

There’s nothing you need to accomplish.

Why Attend a Community Sound Bath?

People attend sound baths in Chicago and Chicagoland for all kinds of reasons. Some want intentional time away from screens and responsibilities. Others are curious about meditation but find sitting in silence difficult. Some simply want an hour where nobody needs anything from them.

A community sound bath gives you permission to stop doing for a little while.

You can use the experience as time for relaxation, meditation, stress management, nervous system care, or simply rest.

What Should I Bring?

What you’ll need depends on the venue.

Event details will let you know whether yoga mats and blankets are provided or whether you should bring your own. I also recommend comfortable clothing and anything that helps you rest, such as a pillow, blanket, or eye mask.

You don’t need any special meditation equipment or previous sound bath experience.
